Host My Presence as the Bush Hosted the Fire

I heard that directive months ago but God has brought it front and center with a 'NOW!'

We each have an altar within that we build and a Fire upon it we must attend.

Both old and new testaments alert us to remember that 'God is a consuming fire.'

That fire is comprised of His Glory/Holiness AND HIs Insanely Passionate Love/Jealousy.

ree

Bottom line, we have an intense and righteously jealous and possessive Lover who just so happens to be The Overwhelming, All Powerful, Unimaginable, Holy One, the Creator and Lord of Heaven and Earth.

Just how do you host that?

ree

Israel tried to keep altars to YWHW and competing altars to Baal to hedge their bets economically and worship what they wanted.

Yeah.... That did not go well.

ree

Our struggle is similar but the hedged-bet, competing altar is 'self' - how I feel, think, am comfortable, etc., etc.

Romans 12 directs that we present ourselves on the altar and, indeed, we all do that.

But the fact of the matter is that sometimes we're the sacrifice for worship but other times we're the object of worship.

Keep in mind that His directive is to 'Host My Presence,'  not 'Carry it'.

To carry something is like managing baggage that you can simply hand off.

To host is to give it full access to inhabit and change all that you are.

That's what He's after.

Come - risk it.

Host His Presence like the bush hosted the Fire.
