Time to Trigger Consummate Thirst

Thirst was designed to be a powerful and primal survival instinct so we would fight to find a way to quench it.
Yet when it comes to THE Thirst 'we are far too easily pleased' (CS Lewis) with trite and often dangerous substitutes.

For Jesus - thirst was His strategy at the well, His invitation at the Feast, and His cry from the cross. (John 4,7,19)
These encounters help us understand, engage, increase, and satisfy not only our thirst, but those of others, and thereby, even His.

Jesus' cunning and playful encounter with the woman at the well triggers and intensifies her thirst for more than what her pot would carry.
She drops it while sprinting into town to springboard the harvest, not knowing that His thirst was satisfied by hers being increased and slaked.

And what about His promise to us in John 7? Why do we not consistently experience the flow of rivers (plural) that He promised?
The keys for that flood are found in His 4-fold requirements: Identify and intensify thirst; repeatedly and persistently come to Him; drink deeply; believe fully.

And what of His Thirst?
It seems that we have but a diminutive and fragmented comprehension of His cry, "I thirst.'
But grasping that more fully will deepen and drive our thirst for Him.
It will increase our deployment as 'salt' to stir and stimulate the thirst of others.
And all of that will be as a drink of cold, refreshing water for The King.
It's time to trigger Consummate Thirst.
Stephen
