THE Question of Pentecost
God's appointed time of Shavuot/Pentecost this month has many parts: The face-to-Face meeting in Sinai, the Feast celebrating His Provision, and the outpouring of the Spirit in Jerusalem.
But His deeper question in all these transactions is this: Will you CLEAVE to Me?
Israel had left Egypt at Passover but it was at Sinai/Shavuot when they were presented with the marriage covenant to 'cleave' to God... or not.
It so scared the living snot out of them that 'the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.' (Ex 20)
Stand off or draw near: We make that same decision.
Paul explains that the marriage covenant to 'leave, cleave, and become one,' is really about Christ and the Ekklesia: About God and His people.
It's one thing to leave the world, sin, your past etc. and a whole other thing to fully surrender to cleave in deep intimacy with God. (FYI - Cleave is a Dalet word.)
The fact that God embeds this renewal cycle within His calendar makes it clear: This was an ongoing process for Israel and it is for us today.
We rightly honor and deploy the gifts of the Spirit released at Pentecost when we operate from the place of intimacy with Him.
Otherwise we are but the loud, clanging cymbals referenced by Paul: Incoherent noise rather than redemptive sound.

The 3,000 soul harvest in Jerusalem back then stands as witness to His heart's desire for you right now.
